DART - Detroit Area Rescue Team

Our first charitable "Run" to help Metro Detroit's homeless people went extremely well. We made four key stops in the City of Detroit and were able to help over 200 people with food, clothing and toiletries. We made some great connections with key organizations like COTS, NSO, Veterans Building and the Hotel Yorba. We also met several individuals that have helped out on their own for years and plan on partnering with them for future events.

The most sought after items were large and extra-large coats. They like to wear layers and the larger sizes make it much easier. There was also high demand for socks and boots. We'll work with DART volunteers to look for more of these in the days to come.

We unveiled this website on January 27th, 2010 and received over 400 unique visitors on our very first day and over 1,600 page views! By the looks of things, we will surpass that number today. I'm very encouraged by the number of people that are helping us spread the word about DART.

Many thanks to all of the people that helped get the new website up and running. For the techno peeps that care, the site is running on squarespace.com which offers a ton of very cool management utilities to organize data on the back end. Special thanks to squarespace support that offered us a nice non-profit discount on our deal.
